About the Artist

Karen Heddens studied art and textile design and earned a BFA degree in fashion design and illustration at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Working as a couture clothing designer and textile artist for over 30 years, she designed exclusively for private clients, small boutiques and galleries.

Her textile art combines many processes of natural fiber dyeing, printing, piecing and felting.  Most recently, 'artful recycling' has become a main focus of her work.

Her current Felted Wool Collection displays her love of color, texture and natural fiber, and is the result of much experimentation in efficiently using recycled wool materials for well-designed, expertly handcrafted and functional new products.

Karen's work is currently exhibited and sold at fine shops and galleries, along with wool festivals and regional markets.
